What are small sport cones used for?

Drills, games and small courses. Coaches set them out for soccer, football, lacrosse and field hockey practice, and schools, playgrounds and parks use them to mark lanes, stations and boundaries. At 5 to 6 inches tall they sit low enough to step over or run past, so they mark a spot without getting in the way.

Why do sport cones come in so many colors?

Color does the organizing. A coach can mark one drill in yellow and the next in blue, or split a class into teams by color, and everyone knows which cone is theirs at a glance. The 6 inch sport cones come in orange, red, yellow, lime green, blue, white, pink and purple, with UV stabilized color that resists fading in the sun.

How is a sport cone different from a traffic cone?

A sport cone is a small, light marker made for fields, gyms and play areas, not for directing vehicles. A traffic cone used on a public road has to meet federal rules for color, height and reflectivity, and it sits on a heavier base so passing traffic does not knock it over. For practice, recess or a backyard course, a sport cone is the lighter and more colorful choice. Anywhere near moving cars, use a traffic cone.

What cones and cone accessories are available?

Cones in every size from 2 inch training cones to 36 inch highway cones, in standard orange and many other colors, plus the gear that goes with them: reflective collars, cone bars, chain and connectors, lights, weights, signs, carts and truck mount holders.

Why are traffic cones orange?

Fluorescent orange is the color drivers read as a warning, and it stands out against pavement, greenery and sky in daylight. The MUTCD calls for orange as the main color of cones used on public roads, which is why orange is the standard, while other colors are used for private property, events and sports.
