Which sign stand do I need for a roll-up sign?

Choose by wind and by how the crew works. Spring stands like the WindMaster single and dual spring models flex in gusts and spring back, so the sign stays up in wind and in the draft of passing trucks. No spring stands are a lighter, budget option for calmer spots. Tripod stands fold flat and hold a sign 12 to 15 inches off the ground, and StackMaster rubber base stands stack for storage.

How does the sign attach to the stand?

Most stands hold the sign with a bracket, either a screw lock or a cam lock, that clamps onto the sign's crossbrace. Check that the bracket style matches your signs, since some stands do not work with every brand. The StackMaster pocket lock stand, for example, does not work with JBC signs. Heavy duty braces make a roll-up sign rigid and wind resistant so it works with any stand.

Do the stands fold for storage?

Yes. The WindMaster and CAMLOCK stands fold down to about 1 cubic foot, tripods fold flat, and StackMaster stands stack on top of each other. A sign stand storage bag keeps a stand and its parts together in the truck.

Why are roll-up signs so popular for road work?

They fold and roll up small enough to carry several in one truck, set up in minutes on a stand, and the printed legend resists harsh chemicals and cleaners, so dirt and graffiti wipe off without damaging the print. They are made in the USA with heavy duty reinforced pockets.

What is mesh roll-up sign material for?

Mesh roll-up signs use an open weave that lets wind pass through, so the sign stays steadier on its stand in gusty spots like open highway shoulders. Reflective vinyl signs shine back in headlights for night work. The 48 x 48 inch sign comes in both mesh and reflective vinyl with a choice of legend.

What accessories go with roll-up signs?

Hook and loop overlays add distance legends like 1 Mile, 1/2 Mile or 500 Feet to a 48 x 48 inch sign, and the flip up flag system adds orange flags above the sign for extra attention. Roll-up sign stands and braces are sold separately.

What kinds of signs are available?

Signs for roads, work zones, lots and events: roll-up signs and stands, MUTCD aluminum signs, warning and construction signs, portable and LED stop signs, stop/slow paddles, traffic cone signs, A-frame sidewalk signs, and custom signs with your own wording.

What makes a sign reflective, and do I need it?

Reflective sheeting bounces headlight beams back toward the driver, so the sign reads at night. Grades run from engineer grade, the standard, up to high intensity and diamond grade, which shine brighter and read sooner at speed. Any sign used on a road or in a lot after dark should be reflective.

StackMaster Rubber Base Roll Up Sign Stand w/Screw Lock - StackMaster-SL

Sign stand with screw lock securely holds flexible roll-up signs of all standard shapes, including rectangular, octangular, triangular, and diamond shape. Accommodates sign sizes up to 16 sq. ft. Placement of the bottom of all signs must be at least 12" above the ground.

Sign stand is compatible for the use of an optional universal attaching device that will hold most standard roll-up signs, including: 2- and 4-pocket signs, DuraLatch and Compact.

The base has a steel plate molded into the rubber for maximum stability. In addition, the base has three molded carrying handles for easy movement and placement.

Sign stand has a foldable upright. The foldable upright has a steel kick release pin with a spring mechanism completely enclosed inside the mast. The upright is released by pushing the kick release pin with hand or foot.

The upright holds a sign four degrees past the vertical axis to allow the sign to naturally lean slightly backwards for motorist legibility.

Sign stand has four stacking lugs molded into the top of the base and four mating feet molded into the bottom of the base that allow sign stands to stack on top of each other.

Sign stand dimensions when deployed are 6' 8" in height, 28" in depth, and 68" in width. When folded the unit shall not exceed 4.5" in height, 28" in depth, and 18" in width. The overall weight of the StackMaster is 40 lbs.
